Backstage with Chuk Iwuji, playing Edgar in King Lear at Shakespeare in the Park, New York City

We were delighted to catch up with Chuk Iwuji in one of the boys’ dressing rooms at Shakeseare in the Park an hour or so before he went onstage as Edgar in the very fine production of KING LEAR starring John Lithgow. Chuk is a (young) veteran of the Royal Shakespeare Company, and played Buckingham to Kevin Spacey’s world-touring Richard III, so is uniquely placed to reflect on British and American approaches to Shakespeare and much more…

Chuk morphs into Poor Tom in a special area under the audience seating. It feels like a crime scene.
